Effective Learning Theory

The SIG is interested in transferring methods from theoretical physics to understand generalization in machine learning. Topics of particular interest are, for example, the renormalization group and its use in machine learning, or diffusion models and stochastic thermodynamics. To get started on these topics, we will read the book The Principles of Deep Learning Theory together. The first meeting will be Tuesday, February 24th, at 4 pm at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (Fröbelstieg 1).
