Photonic Einsum

The kickoff meeting of this SIG took place on 10. January 2026. Alex Breuer Alex gave an overview about his motivation for the collaboration.

The second SIG meeting took place on 12. February 2026. We had two talks, one by Mark Blacher from the Computer Science Institute about tensor factorizations for photonic hardware, and another one by Elena Goi on the basics of photonics hardware.

The third SIG meeting will take place on 26. March 2026 at 4 PM in Room 3073 (Campus Inselplatz). Planned are the following presentations:

• Henrik Voight will discuss possible ML workloads from the literature that might be a good fit for photonic hardware
• Frank Setzpfandt will give an introduction to reconfigurable photonic hardware
• Alex Breuer will give an introduction into lowering GEMMs (general matrix multiply) to digital hardware
